Brown became internationally famous as a child through Stranger Things, meaning many of the ordinary stages of growing up happened while millions of strangers watched, commented and formed opinions about her. Instead, her description of falling in love with Jake has consistently focused on something far less glamorous: feeling comfortable enough to be fully herself.

In 2025, the couple announced that they had adopted a baby daughter. By 2026, their family had expanded again with the adoption of a baby boy, and Brown has described adoption as something she and Jake felt immediately aligned on.

It came from seeing how they handled everyday responsibility together.
Anyone can imagine romance in its biggest moments — engagements, weddings, vacations and photographs where everything looks effortless. Brown’s description of Jake suggests her confidence grew somewhere much less cinematic: feeding animals, sharing a home, discussing difficult subjects, and realizing that mundane life with one person felt better than the possibility of something new with somebody else.
